Let Us Celebrate The Small Things While We Can

standing before you
Not my mother, not my father
But it's me, oh Lord
Standing in the need of prayer.
Not my brother, not my sister
But it's me, oh Lord
Standing in the need of prayer.
Not my elder, not my leader
But it's me, oh Lord
Standing in the need of prayer.
Not the preacher, not the sinner
But it's me, oh Lord
Standing in the need of prayer.
It's me, it's me, oh Lord
Standing in the need of prayer;
It's me, it's me, oh Lord
Standing in the need of prayer.
Thank you for this post. I used to live right across the street on 73rd and Columbus. I miss it there. And I miss John Lennon (or the little I "knew" him in my younger days!).
ReplyDeleteOh, I just watched the video. Frankly, I've never felt much for Naomi Wolf and I think the video is a bit incendiary -- something I tend to distrust. While I don't believe the fascism is taking over our country, I do believe that we have long been in a decline, but that's mainly because we live in an oligarchy. I'm also more of the mindset that believes in history cycles -- there is nothing new under the sun, etc. I think it's hard not to be "sensational" today because of all the media-induced hysteria, all the information that we're subjected to at every minute of the day.
ReplyDeleteelizabeth... yes! the point brought up by many progressives is that there is, indeed, nothing new under the sun; this includes the present administration, and perhaps 'change' is nothing more than a well-crafted p.r. buzzword.
ReplyDeleteI'm still a follower
ReplyDeletemichell...a follower of 'it is i', or of the fascist state? mwa ha ha ha...
ReplyDeleteI am a follower of John Lennon.
